The Tigers opened the 2025–26 season with a home win over Elgin High School. After a slow start offensively, it was the defensive effort that set the tone for Belton. Relentless team defense forced turnovers that led to transition layups and sparked the offense. Many of Isabella Warner’s game-high 26 points came directly from steals, while Laila Koonce-Huston added 10 points of her own, all scored in the paint.
Although team defense was the clear standout of the night, it’s worth noting that every player contributed in the 55-31 win and the Tigers dominated the boards from start to finish. Belton will look to continue its strong preseason play on the road Tuesday at Pflugerville Connally.
