The Belton Freshman Red basketball team demonstrated resilience and strong growth at the BISD Sub-Varsity Tournament, culminating in a 5th place finish and the Consolation Championship title. The team started slowly against Elgin but quickly recovered, securing commanding, lopsided victories over Waco Connally and Bryan Rudder. This tournament served as a crucial learning experience, allowing several players to shine on the offensive end.
Ja'reus Mitchell led all scorers for the entire tournament with 39 points, closely followed by Braylen King (38 points), Bentley Stauffer (24 points), and Darnell Adams (23 points). The team’s strong finish and competitive spirit provide great momentum as they return to regular season action next Tuesday on the road against A&M Consolidated.
