The Belton Tigers JV basketball team faced a tough non-conference challenge against the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs, ultimately falling 71-69 in a thrilling overtime battle. For the first three quarters, the Tigers were the aggressors, playing a fundamentally sound game and executing their offensive sets to perfection. Their hard work paid off as they entered the final frame of regulation holding onto a lead and appearing to be in control of the contest.
However, the momentum shifted in the fourth quarter as Belton found it increasingly difficult to find the bottom of the net. This scoring drought allowed Copperas Cove to chip away at the deficit and eventually force the game into an extra period. Despite the late-game struggles, the Tigers saw standout performances from Hunter Hurst, who powered the offense with 19 points, and Camryn Jackson, who contributed 12 points. While the overtime loss was a difficult pill to swallow, the Tigers demonstrated their ability to compete at a high level against top-tier area competition.
