JV Boys Defeat Waco Connally

The Belton Tigers JV basketball team continued their mid-season momentum with a hard-fought 45-21 victory over Waco Connally. From the opening tip, the Tigers established control, utilizing their defensive schemes to limit Connally's scoring opportunities. By the time both teams retreated to the locker rooms at halftime, Belton had built a comfortable 14-point lead, setting the stage for what appeared to be a smooth path to victory.

However, the first half was not without its challenges, as the Tigers struggled to find consistency in their rebounding and transition offense. Recognizing these gaps, the coaching staff made critical halftime adjustments that proved vital in the second half. When Waco Connally attempted to mount a comeback with a mid-game run, the Tigers responded with poise, weathering the storm before launching a decisive scoring surge of their own to put the game out of reach.

The victory was anchored by standout individual performances, particularly from Hunter Hurst, who led all scorers with 12 points. Hurst's offensive consistency was complemented by Taj Keeler, who pitched in 11 points to keep the pressure on the Cadets' defense. This win highlights the JV squad's ability to adapt under pressure and maintain their focus through four quarters as they move forward in their 2025-2026 campaign.
