The Belton Varsity girls opened district play Friday night against cross-town rival Lake Belton in the loudest gym of the season. The Tigers set the tone early with a lockdown defensive first quarter, holding Lake Belton to just two points. The game remained tightly contested, with the teams tied 16–16 at halftime. Belton continued to battle on both ends but came up just four points short in a 54–50 final.
Emma Harvey made a huge impact on the glass, pulling down 16 rebounds, while Isabella Warner and Emma Flory did an excellent job commanding the floor and executing the game plan.
Although the Tigers start district play at 0–1, they look ahead to their next opportunity on Tuesday when they travel to University.
