Playing at University High School is never easy. It’s one of the toughest road environments in the district, and Friday night proved to be another hard-fought battle for the Lady Tigers.

University struck first, finding the back of the net early to take a 1-0 lead. Despite quality chances and strong stretches of possession, the Lady Tigers went into halftime trailing 1-0 and knowing they would need a response in the second half.

That response came quickly.

Grace Landen got the equalizer after Destiny Schutz was fouled inside the penalty box. Landen calmly stepped up and converted the penalty to level the match at 1-1, shifting momentum firmly in the Lady Tigers’ favor.

Not long after, Abby Idoux created a special moment of her own. Breaking free behind the defense, Idoux raced in on a 1v1 with the goalkeeper and finished with composure to give the Lady Tigers a 2-1 lead.

To cap off the night, Lauren McKinney put the finishing touch on the comeback with a goal from distance, striking from outside the box to seal a 3-1 victory.

The win moves the Lady Tigers to 5-0-1 in district play and 6-5-3 overall, marking the first time this season the team holds a winning record — a testament to their resilience and growth.

Next up, the Lady Tigers return home Tuesday night for their final home game of the season against Ellison High School. It will be Senior Night as the program honors its seniors and looks to continue its strong district run in front of the home crowd.
