The Lady Tigers picked up a hard-fought 2-0 victory Friday night over a much-improved Waco HS squad in a tightly contested match.
After a scoreless first half, Destiny Schutz broke the deadlock early in the second half, settling some Lady Tiger nerves and shifting the momentum. Lauren McKinney added an insurance goal off an assist from Sydnee Lewis to seal the 2-0 win.
Mya Williams recorded the shutout in goal, backed by outstanding defensive play from the back line and defensive center mids — Ayvah Powell, Sydnee Lewis, Katie Herrera, Grace Landen, Karington Kopriva, and Makenzie Albrycht — who limited opportunities and kept Waco off the scoreboard.
Next up, the Lady Tigers hit the road Tuesday for a district matchup at Lake Belton HS.
