The Freshmen Red Belton Tigers football team fought through a thrilling, down-to-the-wire battle against Bryan High School, ultimately coming up just short in a heart-wrenching 19-20 loss. Bryan caught the Tigers off guard early, launching a rapid attack and scoring two touchdowns within the opening minutes of the contest. Despite the early setback, Belton refused to back down, scratching and clawing their way back into the game and keeping players, coaches, and fans alike fully enveloped until the final buzzer sounded.

Belton's comeback effort was sparked by a resilient offensive performance, led once again by quarterback Apollo Palomares. Palomares utilized both his arm and his legs to keep the Bryan defense off-balance, creating crucial opportunities when the Tigers needed them most. After connecting through the air for an early touchdown pass to get Belton on the board, he took control of the ground game as the night went on, rushing for two more touchdowns to pull the Tigers back within striking distance.

The Tigers also got a massive spark from A. Cook, who proved to be a versatile weapon on both sides of the ball. Offensively, Cook ran the ball with relentless energy, using his elite speed to break around the edge for major gains. Defensively, he lined up at safety and made critical stops to stifle Bryan's deep passing game. He was matched in intensity by linebacker M. Benavidez, whose consistent effort and physical tackling in the middle of the field anchored the defensive unit and kept the score close throughout the second half.

While falling one point short is always tough to swallow, the Freshmen Red squad demonstrated incredible heart, grit, and perseverance in refusing to let an early deficit define their night. The game provided valuable lessons in adversity and execution that the Tigers will carry forward into practice this week. With the talent and fight shown on the field, Belton has plenty of positives to build on as they prepare for their next matchup.
