BSOC: Governor’s Cup Recap
The Georgetown Tournament this past weekend was a great learning experience for the team. We gained many takeaways going against good competition. Our guys played hard each game and fought till the very end. We are confident we can compete against anyone we come up against, and we will be very tough to beat if we do the right things.
Below is a quick game recap of all three games:
Thursday, Jan. 4th – Belton vs. Austin Achieve
Rainy weather didn’t stop the Tigers from playing perhaps their best game of the tournament. Austin Achieve was able to strike first, but we were quick to respond. Valentin Villanueva hit a clean volley from 35 yards out to even the score. The Tigers took care of business in the 2nd half with Jorge Hernandez scoring our 2nd goal off a rebound.
Belton 2 Achieve 1
Friday, Jan. 5th – Belton vs Austin Anderson
The Tigers battled hard against Anderson. The game remained tied at the half 0-0. Anderson was able to find the net first in the 2nd half, putting us down 1-0. Anderson then, scored their second of the half, putting us in a big hole. Dominik Pfeifer was able to get a goal back for us, capitalizing off an Anderson mistake in the back. The game tested our durability and depth.
Anderson 2 Belton 1
Saturday, Jan. 6th – Belton vs Austin LASA
This game was a tale of two halves. The Tigers were the better side in the first half. We created some good chances, but just could not find the back of the net. LASA was able to capitalize off a single mistake, putting us down 1-0. The 2nd half, the Tigers struggled to get anything going. LASA was able to score their second goal of the night, and we just didn’t have a response.
