The Belton Girls Soccer team traveled to Ellison HS for its District 22-5A opening game of the season. The game ended in a 6-0 win for the Lady Tigers but it was a difficult matchup despite the scoreline.
Lady Tigers took a 2-0 halftime lead with Ava Itz scoring off of a Bella Stermer throw-in. Tori Lucksinger released Kiersten Rowland for the final goal of the first half.
The 2nd half started with locked horns as the first half did but Tori Lucksingers 25-yard kick and goal eased the nerves. Delaney Bouteller (Abby Idoux assist) scored soon after as she was able to turn the corner on the Ellison defender and beat the goalkeeper with her shot. Abby Idoux (Delaney Bouteller) and Ava Itz capped off the scoring.
Elizabeth Marschall recorded her first district shutout and the defensive line made up of Bella Stermer, Jezy Vazquez, Marissa Christenson and Ayvah Powell helped in the shutout cause.
Next up is Lady Tiger Soccer's first home game of the season against University. The game is scheduled to start at 7:15pm with the JV Red game at 5:30pm. The site is Wilson-Kerzee Field barring any unforeseen weather issues.
