The Tigers took the field on Wednesday night to take on the Ellison Eagles for the opening game of district play. The Tigers started off slow and allowed the Eagles to jump out to an early 12-0 lead after a few miscues gave the Eagles an advantage. The Tigers however were able to gain some momentum going into half time thanks to a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Kaleb Chaney, cutting the Eagles lead to 6 and making the score 12-6 going into halftime. The Tigers came roaring out of halftime and ate up the majority of the third quarter driving down the field. The Tigers were able to take the lead thanks to a good throw from Landon Owens and a good catch and run by Tim Cox. The Tigers took the lead with a 2 point conversation on a pass from Asa Thomas to Landon Owens make the score 16-12 in favor of the Tigers. However, the Eagles were able to put the pressure right back on the Tigers by scoring on the next drive and taking the lead back with a score of 16-20. The Tigers were unfortunately not able to take the lead back before time expired.
The Tigers will be back in action next week on Thursday October 17th at 6:00 at Waco ISD stadium to take on the University Trojans.
