On a Tuesday night in November, the Belton Tigers Girls Basketball took on the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs in the Tigers second Pre-Season Matchup. The Bulldawgs took a quick 10- lead on the Tigers before Laila Koonce-Huston went on a quick 8-0 run to close out the first quarter. After the start of the second quarter, the Tigers took the lead with 9 points from 3-threes and a quick 3-pts from the free throw line from Jada Gage. The Tigers allowed six points from the Bulldawgs to take the lead at the half with a score of 20-16. The score stayed pretty tight between the two teams with the largest lead only being 5 points. The game had come down to the wire but Bulldawgs pulled away with the win, 34-33. Overall, the Tigers had a great game with the leading scorer being Laila Koonce-Huston with 21-pts, Jada Gage with 9 pts, and Kadence Morales with 4-pts. The Tigers go to a tournament at McCallum. The next home game for the Freshman Tigers will be against Gatesville on Tuesday, November 12th.
