Wall of Honor Inductees 2010-2019
Dillon Newman – Baseball – 2010
Dillon Newman was named 1st team all-state as a baseball pitcher by the TX Sports Writers after his senior season of 2010. Dillon was 35-8 in his 4-year career at Belton with an ERA of 1.96 and 18 shutouts. He signed to play at Baylor.
Taylor Pressley – Soccer – 2010
Taylor Pressley was named 2nd team All-State by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches as a Sr in 2010. She was also named the Defensive MVP of the District and signed to play soccer at St. Edwards in Austin.
Grace Weaver- Volleyball – 2010
Grace Weaver was named 1st team 5-A All-State in volleyball by the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) after her senior season of 2010 and signed to play at Tulane University, a Division 1 school in New Orleans. The 5’11” Weaver was honorable mention 5-A All-State by TWSA as a Jr.
David Ash- Football – 2010
David Ash was named all-state by both the Texas Sports writers and the AP Sports editors after his senior season of 2010. Ash, who was also named academic All-State by the TX Coaches Association, was one of the most widely recruited QBs in Texas and signed a year early with the U. of Texas to play for the Longhorns. He enrolled at UT in Jan. of 2011 and became UT’s starting QB as a freshman in the fall of 2011.
Allison Boston- Softball – 2011
Allison Boston was named 5-A all-state as a softball pitcher by the Texas High School Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) and the Texas sports writers (TXSW) after her senior year at Belton H.S. She led a quartet of four Belton seniors in signing to play for Cisco Jr. College in 2012.
Kelsi Darr- Soccer – 2011
Kelsi Darr was named as the 2nd team 5-A all-state goal keeper in girls soccer by the The Texas Association of Soccer Coaches (TASCO) after her senior season of 2011. She received a scholarship to play at Southwestern U. in Georgetown, TX.
Levi Jordan- Football / Track & Field – 2011-2012
Levi Jordan was a “double qualifier” for the for the Belton Athletic Wall of Honor as he was named All-State in football as a Sr in 2011 as a punter and in track and field by winning a silver medal in the discus at the 2012 state track meet. He signed with UT—San Antonio for track and field and plans to compete in the decathlon.
Hadley Young – Soccer – 2011-2012
Hadley Young scored more goals in a season than any other Texas soccer player as a Jr in 2011 & as a Sr in 2012. She was named a Texas All-Star by ESPN Rise in 2011 & 2012. Young set the Belton record for most goals in a season (41) in her Jr year and tied that mark in her Sr year. She also holds the school record for career goals with 119 in 109 games.
Max Hogan – Baseball – 2011-2012
Max Hogan qualified for the Belton Athletic Wall of Honor by making All-State in baseball in his Jr and Sr years. He was a 2-year starter at second base for the Tiger varsity and was chosen to play in the Coaches’ Association All-Star Game and Team Texas which matched top players from across the nation. He signed to play at Dallas Baptist for the 2012-2013 season.
Durham Smythe – Football – 2012
Sr Durham Smythe was named to the 5-A All-State team by the Texas sports writers for the 2013 season. The 6’5” 227 lb. tight end was highly recruited by Stanford, the U. of Texas and Notre Dame before signing to play with the Irish.
Joe Guthrie- Football – 2011
Sr Joe Guthrie was named 3rd team All-State at defensive end by the Texas sports writers after his Jr year of 2011. He was on pace to exceed his 2011 stats when he suffered a shoulder injury in the 7th game of his senior year of 2012.
Kylar Watkins – Powerlifting – 2013
Sr Kyler Watkins qualified for the Belton Athletic Wall of Honor by finishing as state runner-up in her power lifting weight class (148 lbs.) in April of 2013 at the state meet in Corpus Christi. The Belton Wall of Honor now has six female power lifters: Maxine James (2002), Daliann James (2003-2006), Teesa Foxworth (2005-2006), Ashley Williams (2007), Kyler Watkins (2013) and Olivia Warehime (2013) demonstrating that Daliann James’ two national titles and #1 world ranking are only the highlight of the perennial Belton H.S. power lifting program. Belton finished 5th in the 5-A team competition at the 2013 state meet which was won by Weslaco East. Paul Williams has been the Belton power lifting head coach for 11 years though he was deployed by his National Guard Unit for 3 of those years in Iraq & Afghanistan. Williams has coached Belton to ten 1st/ or 2nd place finishes at state from 2002 to 2013.
Olivia Warhime – Powerlifting – 2013
Sr Olivia Warehime qualified for the Belton Athletic Wall of Honor by finishing as runner-up in her power lifting weight class (220 lb.) in April of 2013 at the state meet in Corpus Christi.
Skylar Stewart – Softball – 2014
Skylar Stewart was one of three Belton Lady Tigers that held the school’s all-time, single-season record for home runs, tying the mark with nine home runs in 2014. As of August 2015, Skylar is attending Texas State University in San Marcos, studying early childhood development.
Haygen Tibbett – Football – 2014
Born in Temple, Texas to Clifford Tibbetts and Tracy Traigle, Haygen Tibbetts life was not unlike any red-blooded young boy: playing in the National Football League.
Cager Jack – Track & Field – 2015
Senior Cager Jack received Wall of Honor status in Boys Track by placing second in the 2014 UIL State Track Meet, in the 5A division of the 400 meter run for Belton High School. He recorded a time of 47.04.
Alyson Bishoff – Softball – 2015
Alyson Bishoff qualified as a senior for the Belton High School Wall of Honor by being named Second Team All-State first baseman, by the Texas Sports Writers Association in 2014.
Bekah Alcozer- Softball – 2014-2015
Bekah Alcozer was one of key members of the Belton Lady Tigers team that kept the energy flowing in the early-to-mid 2010’s.
Born to Manuel and Rebecca Alcozer on March 7, 1997, in Temple, Bekah Jade Alcozer was an athlete in the making. She won the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick national competition as a sixth grader in 2009 and made two national appearances. She won the Houston Texans Punt, Pass & Kick competition four of the eight years she competed.
Jared Janczak- Baseball – 2015
Senior Jared Janczak qualified for the Belton High School Wall of Honor by being named Second Team All State by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association in 2014.
Blake Odell- Soccer – 2015
Blake Odell was born on April 11, 1997 to Jeff and Paige Odell. He has two sisters, Abby and Hannah.
Raised in Belton, Blake played mostly every sport, including soccer, baseball, basketball, golf, and tennis. He attended Leon Heights Elementary, Sparta Elementary, Belton Middle School (BMS) and Belton High School
Andrew Paysse- Golf – 2015
Andrew Paysse qualified for the Belton High School Wall of Honor as the 2013 UIL Class 5A Boys Golf State Champion.
Ryan Diaz- Soccer – 2015
Ryan started playing soccer at the age of three. At an early age, Ryan realized there were two strengths in his life: school and soccer. He attended Joe M. Pirtle Elementary, Lake Belton Middle School and Belton High School. He received a Presidential award, several Academic Excellence Awards and was a member of numerous All A Honor Rolls.
Angel Hernandez- Soccer – 2015
Angel Hernandez received Belton High School Wall of Honor status as a senior by being named to the 2013 Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Second Place All-State Team. Belton’s team record was 18 wins, 3 losses and 4 ties. The four year team record while Angel was a member of Belton Boys Soccer team was 80 wins, 15 losses and seven ties.
Courtney Dippel- Soccer – 2015
Born on September 12, 1996, to Tim and Kim Dippel on in McGregor, Texas, Courtney Dippel was a multi-sport athlete when she was young lady.
William Watson – Track & Field – 2015
One of the fastest, proficient hurdlers in the history of Belton Track & Field, Will Watson was rarely beat in any hurdling event statewide.
Sidney Holman- Softball – 2015-2016
Sidney Holman was born to parents Brad and Tiffany Holman on December 05, 1997, in Waco, Texas. She is the oldest of four children (twins Denver and Morgan, and Autumn). She was born and raised in Belton, attending Joe E. Pirtle and Lakewood Elementary Schools and Lake Belton Middle School. Holman’s prowess in the softball was immediate and paid dividends early. In her freshman year of 2013, Holman was 17-8 in 28 games with a 2.59 earned run average. She finished the season with 177 strikeouts and 74 walks in 135 innings. She was named District 8-5A Newcomer of the Year.
Destynie Moore- Softball – 2016
Destynie Ann Moore was born to Richard and Helen Moore on March 1, 1998, in Waco, Texas. She began her educational path at Belton attending Lake Belton Middle School. A product of the Belton Youth Softball Association, she entered the Belton High School Softball program as a freshman in 2013. In 2014 as a reserve outfielder on the varsity level, she made 24 plate appearances going 6-of-22 (.273). Destynie was utilized as a courtesy runner and an outfielder that season, scoring eight runs and stealing two bases. She also pitched against Celina that season in her only pitching performance at the varsity level of her career. She allowed two runs and struck out one in a 17-2 Lady Tiger win.
Zach Shackelford- Football – 2015
A tough, mean and tenacious center on the gridiron and a great student off, Zach Shackelford is the epitome of the Belton Tiger Spirit.
Zach was born in Columbus, Ohio to Lyle and Shannon Shackelford in 1998. He lived in Ohio, Washington state, Germany and Texas. He played golf, soccer, basketball, and swam growing up.
Kaitlyn Jones – Softball – 2015-2016
When it came to determination, skill and playing above her height, that was the epitome of Kaitlyn Jones.
Dana Young- Powerlifting – 2015
Dana Young was born to Thomas and Tammie Young on July 25, 1999 at Fort Hood, Texas. She has an older sister (Sera Jessica Young) and younger brother (William Young). Having moved to Belton in 2009, Dana played recreational league soccer and softball until middle school. Dana played 10 seasons of volleyball, four of which came at Belton High School. She was an Academic All-State member in 2016.
Patrick Henry- Swimming – 2018
The Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association selected Patrick Henry to receive the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest honor the Association awards to Coaches. Henry has been coaching for 36 years, 26 of those years as both a high school coach and a USA Club swimming coach, and he is not done yet.
David Tidwell- Softball – 2018
David Tidwell epitomized the best of what baseball coaching and education at the high school level can be. For 33 years, he was a hard-working leader who demanded the utmost discipline and work ethic from his players on and off the diamond.
Khiry Robinson- Football – 2018
Many talented athletes have competed for Belton High School in the last twenty years, but few have shown the commitment, faith and focus on achieving a professional sports career like Khiry Robinson.
Noah Henry- Swimming – 2017-2018
Noah Henry is one of Belton’s most decorated student athletes, a 4-Time UIL State Qualifier,
14-Time All-State Selection, and 9-Time All-American. Noah achieved four of those All-America time standards his senior year along with the five All-America standards he made in his first three years at BHS. Henry was recognized by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) as an All-American in 2015, 2016, and 2017.
Bethany Edwards- Softball – 2016-2017
Bethany Edwards was born in Brenham, Texas to Diane and Stacey Edwards. Bethany started playing softball when she was 5-years-old, and once traveled to Japan to play with Scrap Yard Internationals. Bethany attended Belton Middle School and played volleyball, basketball, and track, while also playing select softball at a very high level.
Craig Bower- Athletic Trainer – 2018
When it came to the support and education of Belton athletes, students, and coaches alike, there was no equal to retired Belton athletic trainer Craig Bower. Bower grew up in San Antonio and attended Antonian College Preparatory High School. Upon graduation from Lamar University in 1984, Bower was hired by the Belton Independent School District. Bower spent his entire career in Belton, retiring in June 2016. Bower is married to Sherry and has three children: Clayton, Timothy, and Stephanie, all of whom are proud Belton High School graduates. One of his fondest memories was watching his two sons earn their Eagle Scout.
Garrison Vaughn- Football – 2016
Garrison Vaughn has been passionate about sports since he was a toddler. Garrison was born to Jon and Viccki Vaughn in Brownwood, Texas. Playing catcher for the Jarrell Cougars T-Ball team at age 4 marked the beginning of his sports journey. He began playing select baseball at age 7 and select basketball at age 11, experiencing significant success along the way. Garrison played his first football game for the Salado Eagles Youth Team as quarterback at age 11, leading the team to the championship game his first two years on the field.
