The Tigers split at the Turf Wars Tournament going 3-3.

On Thursday, Tiger softball opened the tournament against Copperas Cove winning 6-3. The bats were alive for the Tigers getting 11 hits on the game with leaders from Iris Molina, Andalyn Logan, Reagan Stuart, and Tara Stone all going 2 for 3 at the plate. Tara Stone was clutch with a grand slam to score 4 runs for the Tigers. Reagan Stuart held down the mound allowing only 3 runs in 5 innings while striking out 5. The Tigers then played Abilene Wylie and lost 1-6. Molina, Presli Thompson, Jacklyn Munoz, and Lauren Vazquez all led the team with one hit a piece. Tara Stone was on the mound and allowed 3 earned runs over 6 innings with 3 strikeouts.

On Friday, Tiger softball opened with a win over Greenwood 12-1. Logan, Munoz, Hailey Schutz, and Hanna Wheeler all batted 1000 on the game. Wheeler also took the mound and threw for 6 strikeouts in 3 innings with only 1 run scored. Varsity then played Liberty Hill and lost 4-9 after a late game rally that was not enough to get the win. Molina led the tigers going 1 for 1 at the plate. Munoz, Schutz, Wheeler, and Vazquez all went 1 for 2. Stone threw 4 innings allowing 6 earned runs with 7 strikeouts. Stuart came in for the final inning and allowed 0 runs.

Saturday the Tigers opened against Leander and won 2-0. Schutz led the team going 2 for 3 at the plate, Logan and Munoz followed close behind hitting 500. Stone and Stuart each threw on the mound with a combined shutout and 8 strikeouts. The Tigers closed the weekend with a loss to Glenn 1-9. Logan went 3 for 3 at the plate recording the Tigers only hits on the game. Wheeler threw 3.67 innings with 3 earned runs and 6 strikeouts. Stuart threw 1.67 innings with 6 earned runs and 3 strikeouts.

Overall it was a great weekend filled with lots of softball and getting better as a team. The Tigers look forward to their home game on Tuesday against Gatesville at 7 pm.
