The Tigers powerlifting team made their presence known at the 2025 Texas High School Powerlifting Association (THSPA) State Championship Meet in Abilene, Texas, delivering standout performances and demonstrating the heart of a true competitor. Despite facing challenges, the team showcased their dedication, strength, and teamwork throughout the competition.

Logan Ricks: A Valiant Effort Cut Short

Senior Logan Ricks, competing in the highly competitive 165-pound weight class, entered the meet with high hopes and the determination to leave it all on the platform. Ricks, a seasoned lifter and team leader, started strong with impressive lifts in the squat and bench press. However, during the deadlift portion of the competition, Ricks suffered an unfortunate injury that forced him to withdraw from the meet.

Though his day ended prematurely, Ricks’ resilience and commitment to the sport were evident. His teammates and coaches praised his leadership and unwavering spirit, which have been instrumental to the Tigers’ success throughout the season.

Daniel Arana: Rising to the Occasion

In the 123-pound weight class, senior Daniel Arana delivered a stellar performance, finishing the meet with a total of 1,180 pounds across the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Competing against 33 of the state’s top lifters, Arana secured an impressive 6th-place finish, cementing his status as one of the top powerlifters in his division.

Arana’s consistency and focus were on full display as he tackled each lift with precision and determination. His performance not only highlighted his talent but also underscored the Tigers’ depth as a team.

Team Spirit Shines Bright

The Tigers’ success at the state meet was a collective effort, with every member of the team contributing to the overall experience. A special shoutout goes to Ethan Walker, who selflessly gave up his Saturday to assist during the meet. Walker’s support and dedication behind the scenes were invaluable, ensuring that his teammates had everything they needed to perform at their best.

Looking Ahead

While the 2025 THSPA State Championship Meet marked the end of the season for the Tigers, it also served as a testament to the team’s growth and potential. With standout performances from lifters like Daniel Arana and the unwavering leadership of seniors like Logan Ricks, the Tigers have laid a strong foundation for future success.

As the team reflects on their journey to Abilene, they do so with pride, knowing they represented their school and community with heart, strength, and determination. The Tigers are already looking ahead to next season, ready to build on this year’s achievements and continue their pursuit of greatness on the powerlifting platform.
