The Belton Freshman Red basketball team proved they have zero "quit" in them Friday night, staging a massive comeback attempt against a tough Temple squad. After a rocky start that saw the Tigers trailing 21-2 at the end of the first quarter, the team locked in and spent the next three periods chipping away at the lead.
The relentless pressure and offensive execution eventually brought Belton within just three points in the final minutes of the game. While Temple was ultimately able to hold on for a 63-55 victory, the Tigers’ ability to erase a nearly 20-point deficit showed remarkable character and mental toughness.
The scoring attack was balanced and potent, with three Tigers finishing in double digits. Ja'reus Mitchell led the way with a game-high 21 points, while Brett Smith and Jakobe Robinson provided crucial sparks with 11 points each. This performance serves as a powerful reminder of what this team is capable of when they find their rhythm, and they will look to carry that momentum into their next contest.
