The Belton Varsity girls fell to the Chaparral Bobcats, 67–29, at home Friday night. The Tigers did not look like themselves at the opening tip, but still managed to score nine points in both the first and second quarters. Belton showed more balance in the third quarter, though Chaparral held a 11–7 edge during the eight-minute stretch. The Bobcats then went on several runs in the fourth quarter to extend their lead and secure the win.
Despite the loss, Aubrey Edwards made a strong impact with her defensive presence and rebounding, while Emma Flory handled the ball well against Chaparral’s aggressive guard defense. The Tigers will look to regroup as they prepare to face Ellison on Tuesday in their fourth district game of the first round.
