The atmosphere was electric Thursday night as the Belton Freshman Red team hosted cross-town rival Lake Belton. In a high-stakes "Battle for Belton," the Tigers showed poise and firepower, securing a gritty 53-45 victory.
The win is a major milestone for the squad, improving their district record to 3-1 and pushing their overall season record to an impressive 13-6.
The Tigers’ offense was spearheaded by two massive individual performances that kept the home crowd on their feet:
Ja'reus Mitchell: Delivered a career-defining performance, lighting it up from beyond the arc with six 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 26 points.
Bentley Stauffer: Provided the perfect complement to the outside shooting, attacking the defense to finish with a strong 19 points.
Defeating a rival at home requires both talent and heart, and the Freshman Red team displayed plenty of both. With the district race tightening up, this victory provides the Tigers with significant momentum and bragging rights as they head into the next stretch of the season
