Belton Tiger Varsity showed resilience and composure on Tuesday night, rallying from a halftime deficit to defeat Waco University 56–49 in a hard-fought contest. The Tigers trailed 23–16 at the break, struggling to find rhythm offensively in the first half. However, Belton emerged from the locker room with renewed intensity, tightening up defensively and playing with greater urgency to slowly swing momentum in their favor.
The second half surge was fueled by the outstanding play of Gavin Ross and Jay’dn Loggins, who repeatedly attacked the rim and applied constant pressure on the defense. Their ability to get downhill opened up the floor and sparked Belton’s offense when it mattered most. On the glass, Ty Johnson, Noah Childers, and Daniel Briscoe were relentless, winning crucial rebounding battles and creating extra possessions that proved pivotal in a tightly contested game.
Belton’s depth and toughness shined down the stretch. Abran Knight and Luke Munden made critical plays in key moments, delivering timely stops and smart decisions that sealed the victory. The energy from the bench was equally impactful, as Keishawn Coles, Asa Thomas, and Jayden Holt provided a noticeable lift with their effort and enthusiasm. It was a true team win for the Tigers, one defined by grit, balance, and the ability to respond when challenged.
