The Belton Freshman Red basketball team showed incredible resilience Friday night, nearly erasing a massive halftime deficit before falling to Waco University in a 57-50 battle.
The game was a tale of two halves. The Tigers struggled to find their rhythm early, trailing 34-19 at the break. However, the second half belonged to Belton. Showing the "never-quit" attitude that has defined their season, the Tigers clawed their way back point-by-point, eventually shrinking the lead to just one point early in the fourth quarter.
While Waco University managed to hold on for the win in the final minutes, the Tigers' ability to respond under pressure proved they can compete with anyone, regardless of the score.
Leading the Charge
Ja'reus Mitchell: Delivered another scoring clinic, leading all players with 26 points.
Bentley Stauffer: Contributed 8 points and provided a spark during the second-half surge.
Jakobe Robinson: Added 7 points and played a key role in the Tigers' defensive intensity.
Despite the tough loss, this performance reinforces the grit of this squad as they continue to navigate a competitive district schedule.
