This weekend varsity softball traveled to College Station to compete in the NFCA Leadoff Classic Tournament. This tournament challenged the Tigers as they went 2-4 on the weekend.

In game one the Tigers lost to Clear Springs 0-10. Iris Molina and Lauren Vazquez tried to get a rally with the bats both going 2 for 3. Tara Stone was on the mound for the Tigers and had 4 strikeouts in 4 innings. Overall it was a tough start for the Tigers but they hoped to come back in game two against Humble Kingwood Park.

In game two against Park the Tigers lost 3-5 with a tough fall at the end of the game. Reagan Stuart took the mound and threw all 7 innings with only 1 earned run and 7 strikeouts. Leaders at the plate going .500 were Vazquez and Anessa Ortiz. Unfortunately it was not enough to comeback from the defensive errors occurred.

The Tigers came out refocused on Friday for their game against Robinson where they won 13-0. Hanna Wheeler took the mound and threw all 4 innings with 3 strikeouts and 0 runs scored and only 3 hits. The bats were alive as the Tigers had a combined batting average of .476. Molina and Presli Thompson both batted 1000 for the Tigers and helped lead them to victory. Andalyn Logan also helped the Tigers out with a 3 run home run. Overall it was a great start to the day as the Tigers looked ahead to playing Leander Rouse.

Unfortunately the Tigers fell to Rouse 4-6 in the final inning of play. Stone pitched 3.33 innings and let up 4 earned runs with 6 strikeouts. Stuart came in relief and threw .67 innings with 0 hits or runs. The Tiger offense was led by Reagan Ford going 1 for 1 at the plate. Logan, Wheeler, and Ford each helped the team with 1 RBI. Overall it was a tough loss but the Tigers looked to improve in the tournament on the final day.

Saturday the Tigers led off the day with a win 7-1 over Coppell. Stuart threw all 5 innings with 4 strikeouts and only 4 hits. The Tiger defense was strong in this game with 0 errors to help back her up. Stone and Thompson were leaders at the plate going 1000 with a combined 5 RBI's. Stuart also helped herself out with a 2 run home run. Overall it was a great win for the Tigers as they pushed to their final game of the weekend.

The Tigers faced Lexington and with an inning of errors, Tigers fell 3-6. Wheeler started the game on the mound and threw 2.33 innings with 3 earned runs, 2 strikeouts, and 5 hits. Stone came in for relief and threw 1.67 innings with 1 strikeout and 4 hits but only 1 earned run. The offense fell short for the Tigers but leaders at the plate were batting 1000 from Vazquez and Stone.

The Tigers look ahead to their next game on Tuesday February 17th at 7 pm at home. Come out and support!
