The Belton Freshman Red Tigers engaged in a thrilling, high-intensity matchup on the road against San Angelo Central, ultimately falling just short in a 26-21 battle. From the opening whistle, the game was a relentless contest where every yard had to be earned. Both teams hit the ground running offensively, trading early strikes to bring the score to a 7-7 deadlock in the opening minutes and setting the tone for a dogfight that lasted all four quarters.

Belton's offense found a strong rhythm as the first half progressed, executing with precision to take control of the tempo. Quarterback play was complemented by a standout performance from receiver T. Carpenter, who proved to be a reliable security blanket by hauling in pass after pass to sustain long drives. In the backfield, the tandem of I. Harris and A. Cook provided a powerful punch on the ground, with both running backs finding paydirt for a touchdown each. Thanks to their balanced attack, the Tigers entered the locker room at halftime holding a 21-14 lead.

The second half turned into a grueling defensive showdown, with San Angelo Central making adjustments to fight their way back into the contest. Belton's secondary held up its end of the bargain, led by exceptional play from the cornerbacks. The corners locked down their assignments on the outside, disrupting route timing and ensuring Central had a difficult time completing passes downfield. Despite the secondary's strong coverage, San Angelo managed to string together key plays late in the game to pull ahead.

In the end, the Tigers ran out of time on their final push, coming up just shy in the 26-21 decision. While the loss was a tough pill to swallow after leading at the half, the Freshman Red squad showed incredible fight, execution, and grit against a tough opponent on the road. The Tigers will take the valuable lessons learned from this hard-fought battle and use them as fuel as they prepare for their next game.
