Lady Tiger Soccer wrapped its final tournament of the season playing in the Georgetown Governor's Cup Elite Showcase over the weekend. Week 2 of the Governor's Cup always hosts strong competition and the 2024 slate of opponents was no different.

Over the weekend Lady Tiger Soccer had an overall record of 1 win and 2 losses. Here is a summary of how it played out.

Game 1 on Thursday was against District 15 2023 District Champions - Tomball HS. Tomball scored an early goal and held a halftime lead of 2-0. Tomball's 3rd and final goal was deep into the 2nd half with a final score of 0-3.

Game 2 was against Pearland on Friday. Pearland struck 1st with a goal 10 minutes into the 1st half. The Tigers evened the score with a Kiersten Rowland goal followed up moments later by an Ava Itz goal. The halftime score was 2-1 Tigers. Chances came for both teams in the 2nd half but Pearland scored theirs for a 2-4 final score.

JJ Pearce was the final opponent of the Governor's Cup. Pearce came into their final game of the weekend with 2 big wins over formidable adversaries - The Woodlands and Vandegrift. Belton used the wind to push the tempo, aided by the wind, and was rewarded with a Lauren Mckinney goal to take a halftime lead of 1-0. The 2nd half was back and forth as Pearce now used the wind to make several entries into the Belton final 3rd of the field. The Tigers were able to clear Pearce service that Delaney Bouteller flicked on to Kiersten Rowland. Rowland drove the ball into the Pearce half and then played an overlapping Bouteller who then crossed the ball to Mckinney who slotted a left-foot shot backside to make it 2-0 Belton . A 2-0 win over Pearce was a great way to cap of a tough weekend.

Coach Bersoza had this to say about the weekend.
"I learned / we learned alot about ourselves this weekend! In tournaments like this that are tough game after tough game, we had to, as we say #BeginAgain and get after it. I felt that the girls did a great job of doing that this weekend."

Next up for Lady Tiger Soccer is an away contest at Midway HS on Wednesday 5:00 pm (No JV game).
