Overall Day 1 of the McGregor Tournament was a huge success and the Tigers looked to capitalize on this in Saturday's cold games against Italy and McGregor.
The Tigers started off strong against Italy to build a 5 run lead in the second inning. The Tigers tallied 7 hits led by Evans-Curran with 2. Thanks to speed on the bases the Tigers were able to create chaos with stolen bases from Schutz and Madison Bowling. Defense stayed strong with a double play by Jacklyn Munoz and Gaines. Stuart was on the mound and threw 6 strikeouts on the game in order to help lead the Tigers to a 6-5 victory over Italy.
In the final game of the tournament the Tigers played McGregor with a nail biting finish to win 7-6 in the top of the 5th inning as time expired. Molina and Munoz led the team both going 2 for 3 with 1 RBI a piece at the plate. Followed closely behind by Gott, Evans Curran, and Gaines with an impressive offensive showing as well. Munoz's single to right field allowed Evans Curran to score to win the game.
Overall it was an incredible weekend for the Tigers as they now improve to 6-0 in preseason. Come check out the Tigers at Harker Heights High School on Tuesday February 20th at 7 pm.
